Frequently asked questions
It’s natural to have a few questions when you’re seeking a professional service. This FAQ is here to help cover any basic queries you may have. The best way to find out more is to get in touch and I’ll be happy to chat it through in more detail.
Copy writing or content writing – which do I need?
They’re the same! There are lots of terms used to describe writing that’s created for a specific purpose. If you’re not sure what kind of writing or service you need to ask for, explain it in your own words and I can make sure you get exactly what you need.
Can you keep my project confidential?
I have worked with businesses who ask me to keep their work private, and that’s fine by me. If your work is of a sensitive nature or you require privacy for any reason I’d be happy to sign a confidentiality agreement to protect this request. If I want to advertise my work with you on my website for example, I will ask you for your permission first.
How long will it take you to complete the work?
The time taken depends on the type and extent of the job. That said, I typically produce a short page of web copy in an hour, which includes research time. If you would like a long text reviewed, re-written or edited this will naturally take longer. I am happy to provide an estimate of the time required prior to starting the work.
How much will it cost?
Proofreading - £10 per 1000 words
Editing - £20 per 1000 words
Content writing - £30 an hour
General day rates
I charge an hourly rate of £30 an hour, or a daily rate of £250.
What information will you need from me?
Making sure that you get what you need is paramount, and there are some things you can do to help. Providing brand guidelines or existing tone of voice advice helps ensure that brand copy matches your business vibe. For proofreading and editing, knowing your style is important, so providing examples of other text that has the right feel is useful. If you don’t have these tools don’t worry – I will ask you questions to establish the right context.
What are your terms and conditions?
You can view my standard terms and conditions on this website, which give you an idea of what to expect from a work agreement between us. When I take on a project, these are terms tailored to include the agreed scope of the job and set out the payment schedule.
Can I see samples of your previous work?
You can view a selection of the clients I have worked with over on the Showcase page. If you’d like to see specific samples of my writing please do get in touch so I can understand your requirements and discuss previous work that’s relevant to you.
